Prof. Dr. Barbara Vinken, Ph.D., has been Professor for French and Comparative Literature at  LMU Munich (Germany) since 2004. Her  main areas of research are the Renaissance, the French Novel from the 18th to the 20th Century, Deconstructive Feminism and Fashion Theory. She received her doctoral degree from the University of  Konstanz in 1989 and her PhD from Yale University in 1991; in 1996, she also received her Venia Legendi from the University of Jena. Later she  was appointed to professorships at the universities of Hamburg and Zurich.  Barbara Vinken taught as a visiting scholar at New York University, Humboldt University (Berlin), the ENS (Paris), Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore), FU (Berlin)and the University of Chicago.
